Actor Steve Van Zandt plays the part of Silvio Dante. He is married to Gabriella and they have a daughter named Heather.

Silvio is the owner of the club, Bada Bing and several other clubs in Asbury Park. However, this was not exactly what he had wanted for his life. In fact, he had wanted to become a singer, but sadly the talent was not fully there. Nevertheless, those who do have the talent of singing he willingly offer them his assistance.

Silvio knew Tony since his childhood days and he himself was also a part of some of the illegal activities that Tony was a part of. In fact, after Tony’s dad died, he also did his part in helping Tony to take over as the boss.

One of the reasons why Tony Soprano has always been able to depend on Silvio is that most often than not, he keeps a level head. For example, Tony punched Ralph Cifaretto in the face for his lack of remorse after killing the woman who was pregnant with his child. Tony broke one of the rules within the Mafia by doing that. Ralph Cifaretto was a “made-man” and to hit a ‘made-man” within the community was asking for trouble. Tony still wanted to do more than just punching him in the face and it was Silvio who reasoned with him to try and work out something more peaceful.

In addition to his peaceful side, there is also a dark side to him. He and Carlos stabbed and beat a man, which ultimately led to his death, because of what he had implied about Carlos. In addition to this he had also executed Adriana La Cerva and he was present at the killing of many other persons.

However when Silvio realised that Tony was setting Christopher Moltisanti next in line as the boss, Silvio was not too please about that. So he tried to make thing a lot difficult for Christopher. In the end though, everything between Silvio, Christopher and Tony returned to normal, but Tony never spoke to him about the things that he had done to make life difficult for Christopher.

Back in the late 1990’s Silvio was given the opportunity to take over as boss in the New Jersey organisation, but he had refused. Nevertheless when Tony’s uncle shot him and he was in a coma, when encouraged he took up the position.

Silvio was enjoying this new position and for a little while her regretted that he had not accepted the offer years ago. This line of thinking quickly changed though when the pressures of what it really means to be a boss in the Mafia begun to hit him.

Steven Van Zandt whose name was changed from to Steven Lento was born on the 22nd November 1950. In addition to acting he is also a record producer and a songwriter, just to mention a few. Mr. Van Zandt is also known for his guitar playing in the Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band.
