Actor Vincent Pastore plays the role of Salvatore Bonpensiero whom is better known as Big Pussy. It is said that he was given the name Big Pussy because in the past he was a cat burglar. So since there was already a Little Pussy Malenga, he was given the Big, so hence the name Big Pussy.

Pussy was like an older brother to Tony and as such his children Meadow and Anthony Jr (AJ) were like his niece and nephew. Shortly before his confirmation ceremony, AJ was struggling with his purpose for living and he volunteered to talk with him. It wasn’t uncommon for him to push his hand into his pocket and pull out a role of money and give some of the money to AJ to buy a soft drink or so. He was a family man and his own children love him as well.

In addition to his gentle side, there was also the side that does not loose any sleep over killing anyone. Things took a turn for him though. The FBI caught him as he was smuggling heroin. Instead of sending him off to jail though they offer him a choice. The choice was to become an informant or go to jail. He agreed to be the informant, but every step of the way was overbearing for him. The enormity of what he was doing was causing him to behave in uncharacteristic ways.

On the day of AJ’s confirmation ceremony as he and his family were dressing to attend, he was in the washroom with the door locked having an emotionally war. His wife wanted to enter the room, but he started to argue with her. Then he grabbed up the mirror that she had wanted opened the door, threw the mirror at her and closed back the door. He begun shaving his chest and then he placed the wire on it. When his wife opened the door with another key and threw back the mirror at him, he launched at her, screaming that he was going to kill her. Their son rushed into the room when he heard all of the commotion and Big Pussy returned to his senses.

At AJ’s confirmation party, Big Pussy tried to talk about business with Tony, but nothing became of that; and after Tony told him that he and Carmela had just caught AJ smoking drugs he went to his room to talk to him. After that conversation the FBI could hear him weeping.

When Tony found out that he was an informant Paulie, Silvio and Tony took him for a sail on the sea. Out there they faced him about him being an informant and even though at first he tried to reason with them, he knew what had to be done. They were going to kill him and they did. His corpse was then wrapped and he was dropped into the sea.

Vincent Pastore was born on the 14th July 1946 in Bronx New York and has also acted in Shark Tale and Goodfellas.
