Actor James Gandolfini plays the role of Anthony Soprano Sr., who is better known as Tony Soprano. Tony Soprano was the only son of his parents Johnny Boy and Livia, but he also has two sisters, Barbara and Janice. He is married to Carmela and they have two children. A daughter named Meadow and their son Anthony JR.

Tony is the boss of the Mafia in the New Jersey organisation. This position has caused him to make decisions that have helped in driving him to seek therapy. His father was instrumental in him getting this position and while on one hand he was close with his father, this was not the case with him and his mother.

His mom, using the fact that his uncle, her brother in law, Junior, was steaming angry with him, to kill him. Junior and Livia’s plan failed however and even though Tony was planning to take revenge on her, he changed his mind when she suffered a stroke. Nevertheless, even up to the point of her death, about one year after her stroke, their relationship was still strained.

Tony has consistently been unfaithful to his wife Carmela and one of those persons with whom he has had an affair with is Gloria Trillo. Gloria would later commit suicide by hanging herself. He also tried to “start up” something with his therapist Dr. Jennifer Melfi during the period that he and Carmela were separated.

Tony’s father had suffered from anxiety attacks and Tony also suffers from it. In addition to that, he also discovered that his son is also afflicted by it.

When Tony found out that Salvatore was wearing a wire for the FBI he and two of his member personally killed him. When Christopher told him that his fiancée was also a FBI informant, he gives the order to take her out as well. Jackie Aprile JR’s father was Tony’s friend and Tony promised Jackie’s father that he would keep him out of the mob business. Jackie however fought against going the straight road and when everything went wrong with one of his heist plan, he turned to Tony for help. Tony helped him by giving the order to take him out as well.

The FBI placed his uncle, Junior under house arrest as they prepared to bring another court case against him. The first court case was ruled a mistrial. Junior though has not been100% mentally lately and when Tony was visiting him he shot him. He thought that Tony was an old enemy. The shooting almost killed Tony. Uncle Junior is presently in a senile state of mind in an institution presently.

This shooting was instrumental in Carmela and Tony reconciling

James Gandolfini was born on the 18th September 1961 in Westwood New Jersey, but he grew up in Park Ridge, New Jersey. Mr. Gandolfini is also an Emmy Award winner and a few of the other films that he has acted in are Fallen, 8MM and Crimson Tide.
