Carmela Soprano

Carmela Soprano is the wife of Tony Soprano and actress Edie Falco plays her. Motivation throughout her early years was never a problem for Carmela. She always had a sense of direction for her life. She always knew what she wanted to become and so she pursue those things that would make her dreams become a reality. She was attending Montclair State University and she was taking Business Administration courses.

On the other hand there was Tony. Carmela knew him during her high school days and as far as she was concern, Tony had no hopes for the future. Well, except of course to follow the life of a gangster.

The fact that the two of them, people from so different fences, could be joined together in marriage was not possible. Nevertheless, that is what exactly happened. Although it may have seemed as though Carmela’s family was law-abiding citizens, not all of them were. In fact, right in front of his home, a cousin of hers who had chosen the gangster lifestyle was gunned down.

When it comes to matters of the heart, one cannot truly understand it. So Carmela give up her courses at Montclair State University and she married Tony Soprano.

This lifestyle has brought her much heartache. She is constantly faced with the possibility that one day her husband would be gunned down. Then this fear became a reality when Uncle Junior did indeed shot Tony, after he was in a state of mental confusion. With Tony on his dying bed Carmela came to the realisation of how much she loved him and to be apart from him and she was at one point, was not worth it.

On the other hand, choosing to become Tony’s wife also had it positives. She gave birth to Meadow and Anthony JR. Meadow has always had plans for her life and unlike her brother, she has not been giving her parents a lot of things to worry about. Although Anthony JR. who is better know as A.J didn’t seem to have had a plan for his life, he has been showing some positive signs lately.

Carmela loved her children and when someone decided to stand in the way of her daughter attending college, she decided to take matters into her own hands. The power that being married to a crime boss was also at her disposal and so she used it. When she was finished with the woman who was standing in her daughter’s passageway she was more than happy to step out of her pathway.

Money was also an advantage. She had money in abundance so whatever money could buy and she wanted it, she got it.

Even though Carmela loves Tony, she is also a bit drawn to Furio Giunta and the attraction is mutual.

Actress Edith (Edie) Falco was born on the 5th July 1963, in Brooklyn New York. She is also a three-time Emmy awards winning actress and has also acted in Random Hearts and Law and Order.
